Banded Turban Crochet Pattern

The Turban : This pattern contains directions to crochet the hat pictured. The design, vintage 1939 from Frazier Mfg, is billed as 'The Turban'. I'm not sure I'd call it a Turban, but an interesting hat it certainly is. The Turban is a close filling cap design, in a mesh type pattern stitch, that has an additional decorative band that runs all the way around - just above the base. Create the band in either the same, or contrast color.

Materials:

• 3 tubes "Raphael Brand" Gimp, ( Research indicates DMC Cabelia No 10 as a substitute )
• 1 1/4 yd. Ribbon 2 1/2" wide,
• Cotton Batting.

Contrasting color of Gimp may be used for band if desired.

STITCH : Use Chain Stitch, Slip Stitch, Single Crochet, Half Double Crochet and Double Crochet throughout.
