Beginners Satin Stripe Afghan Pattern, 45 x 65 inches

Satin Stripe : This pattern contains directions to knit the afghan shown. This is a very easy pattern to knit; perfect for the beginner to practice their skills and end with a lovely afghan for their home, or gift for another. The afghan is knitted in panels with 1 1/2 wide satin ribbon sewed in between the panels and around the edges. There is also a matching knitted pillow with the matching ribbon design, that measures either 14 or18 inches square. This design is vintage 1950 from Coats and Clarks.

Materials:

• CHADWICK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 4 Ply, Art. E.232: 64 skeins (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) of No. 789 Bittersweet.
• Clark's O.N.T. Plastic Knitting Pins, I pair No. 8 (5 mm. size).
• 2 pillows, 18 inches square; I pillow 14 inches square.
• 38 yards of satin ribbon, 1 1/2 inches wide.

GAUGE: 9 sts make 2 inches; 9 rows make I inch.

Afghan measures 45 x 65 inches;

Pillows 18 inches square and 14 inches square.
