Description

Checkerboard Rug and Pillow : This pattern contains instructions to crochet the rug and pillow shown. This is a very easy pattern set in the always pleasing checkerboard design. Individual blocks are completed and stitched together to complete the designs, which are late 1950s from American Thread. Each square measures 6 x 6 inches. 35 squares 5 x 7 squares are required for a rug measuring 30 x 42 inches. Or, branch out on your own and add more or less to make a rug that meets your needs. The pillow measures 12 x 12 inches. (Note: This pattern was also published in the June 1962 issue of The Workbasket).

Materials Required for rug:  - AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "AUNT LYDIA'S" STAR SPUN, Article 235 17 skeins # 1 Gold (White with Gold Metallic) and"AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN, Article 235 15 skeins Black or colors of your choice;   Aluminum crochet hook size G.

Materials Required for pillow:   - AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "AUNT LYDIA'S" STAR SPUN, Article 235 2 skeins # 1 Gold (White with Gold Metallic) and "AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN, Article 235 5 skeins Black or colors of your choice;    Aluminum crochet hook size G;   Kapok or shredded foam rubber for filling.
