Bow Trimmed Beret Crochet Pattern

Bow Trimmed Beret : This pattern has instructions to crochet the hat pictured. The official magazine write-up: " With an afternoon dress – a lacy pink beret crocheted in strawlike yarns, trimmed with pale pink velvet bows. This would be pretty in any pastel shade". Technically termed a Beret, this design is crocheted in a straw like heavier yarn for a firm texture and surface. The beret is designed, minus the slump, to sit on the side of the head and is trimmed with velvet ribbon. This pattern, from Hiawatha, is vintage 1950s.

Materials:  Hiawatha Belastraw, 2 spools;   Hiawatha Strawsheen, 1 spool;   Plastic crochet hook No. 9;   One yard of velvet ribbon 1/2" wide.   (Gauge: 3 sc=1").
