Braid Trimmed Knitted Shell Pattern

Knitted Shell : This pattern contains directions to knit, crochet braid, the top pictured. A simple shell, a fairly easy knit, the shell is sleeveless, of course, hip length with ribbing and narrow shoulder bands. To this, crocheted braid is added in the design indicated, or a design of your choice. A chart is not given for the braid layout. The pattern is sized for misses 10 through 16. The knit instructions are written for a size 10, with changes for 12, 14 and 16 in parentheses.

Materials:

• COATS & CLARK'S "Red Heart" Super Fingering, 3 Ply, Art. E 239 (l-oz, "Tangle-Proof" pull-out skeins), 4 (4-5-5) skeins of No.1 White and 1 skein of No. 12 Black.
• Knitting needles, 1 pr each No.3 and No.5.
• Milwards steel crochet hook No. 2.

GAUGE: 6 sts = 1"; 8 rows = 1".
