California Cardigan Knitting Pattern, Semi Fitted

California Cardigan: This pattern contains directions to knit, crochet detail, the cardigan shown. The official write-up on this 1954 magazine pattern : "The California Cardigan will be a favorite from the Carolinas to Catalina. Its bulky look spells smartness and its interesting stitch adds texture." The pattern on this design is quite poor, but the design itself has grand potential and was worth preserving. The semi-fitted cardigan, has form flattering appeal, with long sleeves, ribbing, below hip length and button band. It is one of the classic designs that pair well with slacks and skirts. (See photo of pattern stitch) The pattern is sized for misses 12, with changes for 14, 16 and 18 in parentheses.

Materials:

• Bear Brand Standard or Fleisher's Superior Knitting Worsted: 16 (20, 20, 22) ozs.
• No. 4 and No. 8 knitting needles.
• No. 6 plastic crochet hook.
• 6 buttons.

GAUGE: No. 8 needles: 19 sts = 4".

Finished Knitted Measurements at Bust: Buttoned - 34 (36, 38, 40)".
