Checked Afghan Crochet Pattern, 45 x 66 inches

Peacock Afghan : This pattern contains instructions to create the subtle and beautiful crocheted afghan pictured above. First the afghan is crocheted and then, sc chains are woven through the stitches to give the piece an entire new dimension. It is then finished with a nice fringe. Charts are included for the weaving portion of the pattern. The finished afghan is 45 x 66 inches and the matching pillow is 18 inches square. The pattern is vintage 1950s from Coats and Clarks.

Coats and Clarks officially named these pattern Peacock. Why? I don't know.

• - CHADWICK'S RED HEART SOCK & SWEATER YARN, 3 Ply, Shrink-and-Stretch Resist Finish, Art. E.255: 20 skeins (I oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) of No. 12 Black; or
• - CHADWICK'S RED HEART ORLON "FASHION YARN," 3 Ply, Art. E.265: 21 skeins (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof' Pull-Out Skeins) of No. 858 Navy, or
• - CHADWICK'S RED HEART ORLON "FASHION-GLO," 3 Ply, Art. E.265-M: 24 skeins (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) of No. M.12 Black; and
• - CHADWICK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 4 Ply, Art. E.232: 27 skeins (1 oz. "Tangle-Proof" Pull-Out Skeins) of No. 515 Dk. Turquoise and 19 skeins of No. 848 Skipper Blue for Afghan and Pillows.
• - Clark's O.N.T. Plastic Crochet Hooks No 3 and No 5.
• - 2 pillows, 18 inches square.

GAUGE: 4 sps make 1 inch; 3 rows make 1 inch.
