Chrysanthemuns inspired this lovely square, crocheted in such simple stitches that even a beginner wll be proud of the result. A cholce bed spread, cloth or many small accessories can be yours-the square measures only 5-1/2 inches. If you choose you can have a two color spread by making the flower in a contrasting color.  

Description

Crocheted Square:  This crocheted square can either be made of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. The square can either be worked entirely in one color or the first seven rounds can be worked in a pastel shade and the final round in unbleached. When joined together the squares form bedspreads, cloths,scarfs, pillows and chair sets.   The squares can be crocheted at 4 or 5-1/2 inches.  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 1937 in 1938..  

Materials:  Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook,  or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.  (Each square requires approximately 46 yards of heavy cotton or 32 yards of fine cotton)
