Classic Crochet Clutch Bag Pattern

Classic Bag : This pattern contains directions to crochet the bag shown. This is a sweet little clutch style bag made in mercerized crochet cotton, lined with a front button closure. The actual size is not stated, however, there are gussets on the sides for extra expansion room. The pattern is vintage 1939 from The Spool Cotton Company. This is a bag just like your grandmother may have made a carried. Perfect for a bit of this and that for an evening out on the town.

Choose one of the following threads in size 20, White or Ecru:

• CLARK'S O.N.T. MERCERIZED CROCHET, 10 balls.

• J. & P. COATS MERCERIZED CROCHET, 7 balls.

• J. & P. COATS BIG BALL BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, 4 balls.

Materials:

• MILWARD'S steel crochet hook No.8.
• 1 large wooden button.
• ½ yd. buckram.
• ½ yd. lining material.

GAUGE: 4 pattern sts make 1 inch; 9 rows make 2 inches.
