Description

Carnival Granny : This pattern contains directions to crochet the afghan pictured. The Granny Square afghan has been popular for generations with many renditions. This one, 1939 from American Thread, is called a Carnival Granny. The colorful blocks, 158 of them at 5-3/4 inch each, are made with a multi-colored yarn, which at that time, was called Mexicana. The blocks are layed out in a diamond pattern, following the included chart. The finished piece measures 48 x 65 inches.

Materials:

  • CHADWICK'S RED HEART AFGHAN WOOL, 44 skeins (4 oz. skeins) of Mexicana
  • and 24 skeins (1 oz. skeins) of Black.
  • MILWARD'S CASEIN CROCHET HOOK No.5.
