Colorful Crochet Oval Rug Pattern Design 5544

Crocheted Rug : This pattern contains directions to crochet the rug pictured. The six-sided medallions form this rug with its matching footstool top and pillow. The rug is to be crocheted in rug wool, rags or candlewicking. Each medallion may be in different colors using up scraps of yarn or material. The finished rug measures 26 x 48 inches. By adding more medallions a larger run can be made than that for which directions are given.

This is a Mail Order Pattern, purchased through newspapers. This pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 5544 in in 1936.  The newspaper description:  "Why pay a lot of money for rugs when you can make them as easily as this yourself? Colorful six sided flower medallions are sewn together and a vari-colored border is crocheted around them".

Materials:

• 7 skeins (60 yards to the skein) of brown, 2 skeins of beige, 1 skein each of light and dark green rug yarn, for the border
• No. G steel crochet hook.
