Crochet 12 Inch Pineapple Square, Mail Order Design 530

Crocheted Squares:  This pattern contains directions for making crocheted squares in No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. One square, worked in heavy cotton, makes a lovely doily, mat or pillow top. Join squares together to form bedspreads, cloths or scarfs or individually as doilies.  Squares can measure 12 or 15 inches.  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 530.  The newspaper description:  "Look closely! Pineapples look like petals - so dainty set off by mesh scallops. One lacy 12-inch square makes a lovely doily or mat - join 3 for a scarf, more for an heirloom cloth".  

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:   No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 Steel Crochet Hook;   or Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 8 Steel Crochet Hook.   Each square requires approximately 175 yards of fine cotton or 250 yards of heavy cotton.
