"A really big butterfly with a wing spread of 20 inches makes a competent sized chair back piece. Width across wings is 12 inches; arm piece wings measure 9 x 6 inches and the design is quite easy to crochet.

The set calls for only 3 large balls of No. 20 Crochet Cotton Thread! Do it in white, in ecru, in pale yellow or medium blue -- very effective".

Crochet Chair Set:   This pattern gives directions to crochet the chair or buffet set pictured.  This is a unique design, quite different than the majority of the Mail Order butterfly sets.  It's a large design, worked in No 20 Cotton.  

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Carol Curtis 457 in 1952. 

Materials:  3 Large Balls #20 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. #10 Steel Crochet Hook.
