Crochet Calot Hat, Bag Pattern, Laura Wheeler 952

Crochet Hat and Bag:  This crocheted hat and purse set can be made either of Knitting Worsted, Straw Material or of two strands of Crochet and Knitting Cotton worked together. Four easy medallions form the calot; the medallions can be arranged to form any head size. Braided loops, very quickly made, of the same material trim the hat. The crocheted purse, also is made of joined medallions and outlined by braids.

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 952 in 1944.  The newspaper description:  "Crocheted accessories are to smart to wear with everything from tailored suits to to frilly frocks. So easy to make and so inexpensive. Join a few easily memorized medallions for a smart hat and bag. Use cordette straw yarn or string".

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: 3 (3-3/4 ounce) skeins of yellow Knitting Worsted, 6 (100 yard) skeins of yellow Straw Material;   or 4 (300 yard) skeins of yellow Crochet and Knitting Cotton, a No. 0 steel crochet hook;   1 yard of lining material, 1/2 yard of crinoline, a button 1 1/2 inches in diameter;   (If only the hat is being made 1 (3-3/4 ounce) skein of Knitting Worsted or 2 (100 yard) skeins of Straw Material or 2 (300 yard) balls of Crochet and Knitting Cotton is required.
