Description

Crocheted Doily:   This pattern gives directions to crochet the doily pictured.   This is a enchanting design with changing motifs from a mesh center, flower motif (Pansies or Tulips?) and a splendid fan border.   This is a centerpiece at 34 inches.  A smaller doily can be made by substituting thread.   Note: This pattern was published in 'All Caps".

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed by Needlework Bureau No 1421 in 1941.  The newspaper description:  "how long have you had the same old centerpiece on your dining room table? Maybe you don't appreciate the stimulating effect of new accessories for your household, or perhaps you haven't come across a design as attractive as the one pictured. When completed, the centerpiece measures 34 inches, a smaller one can be made by omitting the outer 1/3rd".

MATERIALS:   9 BALLS OF MERCERIZED CROCHET COTTON, SIZE 20 (125 YDS IN EACH BALL); STEEL CROCHET HOOK, SIZE 10 OR 11.
