Crochet Chair Set Pattern, Cabbage Rose, Mail Order 2979

Crochet Chair Set:   This pattern gives directions to crochet the chair set pictured.  Crochet the cabbage roses separately; use singely for arm rests or join three for a chair back. Create the roses in a solid color with green leaves, or combine two colors for contrast.  The roses measures 7 x 7 inches, the leaves are 4-1/2 by 2-1/2. 

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Peggy Roberts R-2979 through Needlework Bureau in 1948.   The newspaper description:  "Add a decorative touch to your living room as well as protection for your upholstered chairs with this beautiful rose chair set. Crochet one flower in pink, white and yellow, for breath-taking effect".

Materials:  9 Balls (50 yds each) Plain Rose, Red, Pink, White or Yellow Pearl Cotton, Size 5. (1 Ball will not quite make 1 rose);   9 Balls (50 yds each) Light Green Pearl Cotton, Size 5;   Steel Crochet Hook No. 6 (Standard Size).
