Description

Crocheted Cloth and Doilies:  This tablecloth can either be made of two strands of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton worked together, or of a single strand of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. The weight of the cotton governs the size of cloth. Directions are given telling where to end off to make two sizes in each material. 

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspaper advertisements.  The pattern was marketed as The American Weekly No 3886 in 1938. 

HEAVY CLOTHS APPROXIMATELY 62 INCHES OR 37 INCHES IN DIAMETER, MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: A 62 inch cloth requires 7 (500 yard) skeins, a 57 inch cloth requires 4 skeins of Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 1 steel crochet hook.  For these cloths use two strands of cotton worked together, this will make a very heavy thread.  

MEDIUM WEIGHT CLOTHS APPROXIMATELY 56 INCHES OR 26 INCHES IN DIAMETER, MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: A 38 inch cloth requires 2 (500 yard) skeins, a 26 inch cloth requires 1 skein of Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 7 steel crochet hook. 

FINE DOILIES APPROXIMATELY 30 INCHES OR 16 INCHES IN DIAMETER, MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: A 50 inch doily requires 6 (150 yard) balls, a 16 inch doily requires 3 balls on No 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.
