Description

Corn Potholder:  "So many of my Readers have requested an Ear of Corn potholder that the pattern shown today is really a "command performance." Crocheted of yellow cotton in a pebbly-like stitch, the green leaves are simple single crochet. Large enough to take care of all sizes of hot pots, they add a decorative touch to any kitchen.

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs. The pattern was marketed as Anne Cabot 5731. The newspaper description: "The pebbly type stitch used in this ear of corn potholder gives a most realistic effect, especially when crocheted in pale yellow and green cotton. It's a pretty thing as well as usual. Crocheted potholders are sturdy, strong and fun to make. They require little time and material and are always useful and appreciated gifts".  The pattern was included in the Anne Cabot 1949 Needlework Album.

MATERIALS:  Yellow bedspread cotton - small ball (50 yds);Green variegated pearl cotton small ball (25 yds); Steel crochet hook No. 0 (Standard size).
