Description

Crocheted Medallion:  These crocheted doilies can be made either of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. They can be used as luncheon and buffet sets or as odd doilies.   Crochet the doilies in small, medium and large sizes.   The large doilies are 12 or 18 inches; the medium doilies are 9 or 13 inches and the small doilies are 5 or 7 inches in diameter. 

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.   The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 6737 in 1940.  The newspaper description:  "Crochet a luncheon set with these doilies - a buffet set - incidental doilies, all in economical string. It takes but two skeins for a complete luncheon set"   

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (700 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook, or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.   The large doily requires approximately 255 yards of heavy cotton or 195 yards of fine cotton; the medium sized doily requires approximately 152 yards or 120 yards of fine cotton; the small doily requires approximately 47 yards of heavy cotton or 35 yards of fine cotton.
