Description

Crocheted Dolls:   The pattern contains the directions for making two dolls; a white and a colored doll; and their clothes. Both dolls are made entirely in single crochet, the face is embroidered on after the head has been crocheted.   The only difference in the two dolls is hair style.

This is a Mail Order design pattern purchased through newspapers.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 1873 in 1938.  The newspaper description:  "Just single crochet forms this lovable 16 inch dolly. Her hair is "real" (Germantown yarn) and her suspender dress (in finer yarn) is simple to crochet".

Materials:   2 (1 ounce) balls of flesh colored and 1 ball each of white (or brown) and black 3-Fold Saxony yarn, 1 (1 ounce) ball each of light blue and yellow French Zephyr, 1 (1 ounce) ball of brown 4-Fold each of blue and red Saxony yarn, a No. 5 and a No. 8 steel crochet hook, 7 tiny buttons, 1/3 yard of muslin, some kapok for stuffing and 1/4 yard of fine white material for slip.
