Ferns translated into crochet make this lovely square so adaptable for joiníng for scarfs, covers, and spreads. Worked in a petal stitch, a 12-inch square in No. 30 cotton; 16 inches in string. 

Description

Crocheted Square:  This pattern contains directions for making a fern crocheted square. The square can be made either of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. When joined together the squares form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs and pillows. The square can be used as a doily.  The square can be crocheted at 12 or 16 inches. 

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7021 in 1945.

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook or unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 8 steel crochet hook.  Each square requires approximately 180 yards of fine cotton or 265 yards of heavy cotton.
