Crochet Filet Wheel Square Pattern, Bedspread No 656

Stepping Stone No. 656:  This pattern contains directions to crochet the square & bedspread pictured.   This pattern creates two square - a wheel motif in popcorn stitch and filet crochet -  that each measure 4 inches.   The squares are joined to 8-1/2 inch blocks and laid out checkerboard style  Directions include single and double spreads, however, feel free to add additional squares for sizes of your choice.    The pattern description:  " This crocheted block is created with four 4-inch squares joined to create a block .. combined with filet crochet blocks for an intriguing bedspread or other accessories".

Materials: 

• J. & P. Coats Bedspread Cotton, 31 balls of White, or 23 balls of Ecru for double size spread; 26 balls of White, or 19 balls of Ecru for single size spread. 
• Milward's steel crochet hook No. 8 or 9.

 GAUGE: Each block measures about 8-1/2 inches square. For a double size spread, 94 x 111 inches, make 71 filet blocks and 72 wheel blocks. For a single size spread, 77 x 111 inches, make 58 filet blocks and 59 wheel blocks.
