Simplest thing in the world to turn a plain handkerehief into a very pretty one of you'll just employ a fine crochet hook and a very fine thread. The four hand- crocheted edgings and the cross- stitch embroidery rose design are extra pretty. Theyll make lovely gift hankies for very little expenditure.

Description

Crochet Edging and Insertions:  This pattern gives directions to create the four edgings and insertions pictured.   Designed to be applied to handkerchiefs, they would also be perfect for delicate undergarments.  All are worked in crochet or tatting cotton.   Note:  the instructions reference embroidery (as shown at bottom of picture).   This trace design is not included due to damage.

A plain handkerchief can be turned into an expensive looking gift by means of adding a delicately crocheted edging or by embroidering a charming flower design in one corner. Use very fine crocheting thread in white or a fine tatting thread in pale pastel shades.

This is a Mail Order Pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Anne Cabot 5870 in 1945.
