Crochet Hat Bag Pattern, Popcorn Stitch, Alice Brooks 7740

Crocheted Hat and Purse Set:  This pattern contains directions for making a crocheted hat and purse set made either of Knitting Worsted or Straw Material. The set is worked in a combination of single crochet and double crochet loops. Directions are given for hat in a 22-inch head size.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7740 in 1944.  

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:   3 (3-3/4 ounce) skeins of rose beige Knitting Worsted and a No. 00 steel crochet hook;   or 7 (100 yard) skeins of rose beige Straw Material, a No. 6 bone crochet hook;   1/2 yard each of crinoline and lining material.   If only the hat is being made 1 (3-3/4 ounce) skein of Knitting, Worsted or 2 (100 yard) skeins of Straw Material is required.
