Description

Crocheted Medallions:  These two crocheted medallions can either be made of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. The medallions can be joined to form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs and pillows.   The medallions may be crocheted in two sizes each.   The larger medallions are 5-1/2 or 3-1/2 inches; the smaller fill medallions may be 2-1/4 or 1-3/8 inches. 

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers.   The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 1940 in 1939.  The newspaper description:  "This exquisite medallion is so simple to crochet you'll memorize it in no time. And then you'll be off on a good start to beauty that will endure endlessly".

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook, or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 12 steel crochet hook.  Each large medallion requires approximately 31 yards of heavy cotton or 20 yards of fine cotton; each small medallion requires approximately 4 yards of heavy cotton or 2-1/2 yards of fine cotton.
