"The woman who can use a crochet hook has the chance this year to make the loveliest and most exquisite Christmas gifts. The medalliuon equally choice in unbleached twine or colored cotton can be used for a great variety of articles. Pillow tops, scarfs, mats, chair backs are but a few suggestions. The flower part can be done in one color with the leaves in green. If your taste runs to peasant art, this luncheon set, that does as a scarf too should meet your taste. In it, various bright pleasant colors are used for the design, the entire scarf being a combination of singe and double crochet".

Description

Crocheted Medallion:   This pattern gives directions to crochet the medallion pictured.  This medallion, worked in Knitting and Crochet Cotton or twine, is joined to create scarves, pillows, cloths.   The actual size of the medallion is not stated in the pattern, nor the advertisements.   I would assume in the 5" range.  Layout charts are included for different articles. Note, as was consistent for the time period, this pattern was published in all caps.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspaper advertisements.  The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 5105 in 1934 under two different advertisements.  It had limited publication, as the brand had not yet branched across the United States.  I have not found evidence that it was released again under a different number at a later date.
