Crochet Oval Pinwheel Doilies, Laura Wheeler 431

Crocheted Doilies:  These crocheted doilies can be made either of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. They make very attractive buffet and luncheon sets or they can be used as odd doilies.  The large doilies are 16 x 24 or 11-1/2 x 17 inches.  The small doilies are 12 x 16 or 8 x 13 inches. 

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 431.   A companion doily, round in shape, was marketed as Laura Wheeler Design 333.  

Materials:  Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.  The large doily requires approximately 370 yards of heavy cotton or 240 yards of fine cotton;   The small doily requires approximately 175 yards of heavy cotton or 125 yards of fine cotton.
