Crocheted Doilies: These crocheted doilies can be made either of No. 50 or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. The choice of the cotton governs the size and texture of the doily. They can be used to form buffet and luncheon sets or they can be used as odd doilies. The large doily may be 16 or 27 inches and the small doily 12 or 22 inches in diameter.

This is a Mail Order pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs. The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 6821 in 1941.  This pattern has a companion piece - Crocheted Scarf Design 7038. 

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:   No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 14 steel crochet hook, or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook, or unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (700 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook.   The large doily requires approximately 350 yards of No. 50 cotton or 405 yards of No. 30 cotton or 520 yards of heavy cotton; The small doily requires approximately 185 yards of No, 50 cotton or 227 yards of No. 30 cotton or 325 yards of heavy cotton.
