Crochet Pineapple Medallion, Spreads Cloths, Alice Brooks 7691

Crocheted Medallion:  This pineapple medallion can be made either of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or of unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. When joined together the medallions form chair sets, bedspreads, cloths, doilies and pillows. A crocheted border is worked around joined medallions to complete the chair set and doily.   Each medallion is 5-1/2 inches.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7691 in 1944.  The newspaper description:  "It's your good friend - the pineapple design! Some love it for its gossamer beauty ... some because its easy to do. These crocheted medallions make chair sets, doilies, cloths and bedspreads with that lacy look". 

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:  No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 12 steel crochet hook;   or unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (700 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook.   Each medallion requires approximately 40 yards of fine cotton or 60 yards of heavy cotton.  4 (150 yard) balls of No. 30 Cotton will make a chair set, 3 (150 yard) balls will make a pillow or an 18 inch doily.
