Crocheted Planter & Flowers:  This pattern contains directions for crocheting an Umbrella-shaped Planter worked with a single strand of Double Quick or 3 strands of Bedspread Cotton - decorated with flowers made of fabric; also flowers made of Knitting Worsted yarn.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.   The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 616.  The newspaper description:  "Add a fresh Spring accent with a posy filled planter. New, crochet novel umbrella shaped planter of 8-cord heavy cotton or bedspread cotton; fill with pompom center flowers of fabric and yarn".

In addition to materials in photo chart:  Each Fabric Flower - takes 8 inches of (1-1/2 inch wide) Eyelet trim; 8 yds. of Green Double Quick or 24 yds. Green Bedspread Cotton. 1 (11") piece of heavy wire required for stem; also green floral tape needed.  Each Yarn Flower - takes 3 yds. of Knitting Worsted yarn; 8 yds. of Green Double Quick or 24 yds.
