Crocheted Scarfs:  This crocheted scarf can be made either of No.50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton, No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. The choice of the cotton governs the size and texture of scarf.   Depending upon your material selections, crochet scarfs at 13-1/2 x 30, 18 x 40 or 35 x 65 inches. 

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7038 in 1941.  There is a companion piece for this pattern - Doily Design 6821.  

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: 5 (175 yard) balls of No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 14 steel crochet hook, or 7 (150 yard) balls of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook or 3 (700 yard) skeins of unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 8 steel crochet hook.
