Vintage 1950s

Just ONE ball of No. 30 cotton makes both doilies! They're such fun to crochet in the gay whirly pinwheel design, easy too!  Even one is a lovely gift, for hostesses, birthdays and so on.   

Description

Crocheted Doilies : This pattern contains directions for crocheting the doily shown. The doilies may be made in three different sizes of small, medium and large, depending upon the materials used. Each doily has the wonderful pinwheel and eye motif, with differing factor bing the number of spokes.  The large doilies are 18 and 14-1/2"; the medium doilies are 12 or 9-1/2"; the small doilies are 6 or 4-1/2".  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs. The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7027 in 1950.   It was also marketed under the Laura Wheeler brand. 

Material Requirements:   Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook.  The large doily requires approximately 280 yards of heavy cotton or 200 yards of fine cotton.  The medium sized doily requires approximately 120 yards of heavy cotton or 90 yards of fine cotton.   The small doily requires approximately 33 yards of heavy cotton or 24 yards of fine cotton.
