Description

Crocheted Medallion:  These crocheted medallions can be made either of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. When joined together the medallions form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs, pillows and other household articles.  Crochet the pinwheel medallion at 5 or 7-1/2 inches; the small fill-in medallion at 2 or 2-3/4 inches. 

This is a Mail Order Design Pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as The American Weekly 3612 in 1943.  The newspaper description:  "Pinwheel medallions make a striking spread, cloth or scarf when joined together and these are fun to crochet in your leisure time. So get busy!"  

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook or No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.  The large medallion requires approximately 55 yards of heavy cotton or 38 yards of fine cotton, the small medallion requires approximately 12 yards of heavy cotton or 9 yards of fine cotton.
