Description

Crocheted Medallion:  Those crocheted medallions are to be made of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. When joined together the medallions form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs, pillows and many other household articles.  The medallion may be crocheted at 4-1/2 or 6-1/2 inches.

This is a Mail Order Designs pattern purchased through newspaper advertisements.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 1651 in 1938.  The newspaper description:  "Long for a lace tablecloth, bedspread? Crochet one yourself in string - it is easy! One medallion at a time does the trick and when you've enough join them into the spread or cloth. Beginners! It takes just 8 lace pinwheels and 3 small medallions to make a scarf".

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton in (125 yard) balls and a No. 12 steel crochet hook.  Each medallion requires approximately 43 yards of heavy cotton or 28 yards of fine cotton; each joining medallion requires approximately 4 yards of heavy cotton or 3 yards of fine cotton.
