Crochet Rag Rug Pattern, Flower Medallions, Laura Wheeler 557

Crocheted Rug:  This crocheted rug is made in a combination of Rug Cotton and rags. The center section and the crocheted band are worked in slipper stitch using Rug Cotton. The flowers are made of rags with Rug Cotton centers. If desired the flowers can be made entirely of Rug Cotton. This finished rug will measure 22-1/2 x 44 inches.  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 557 in 1943. 

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: 8 (100 yard) balls of white Rug Cotton and 600 yards of gay colored rags 1/2 inch wide and a No. 6 bone crochet hook  or for a rug made entirely of Rug Cotton 8 (100 yard) balls of white and 1 ball each of five gay colors of Rug Cotton and a No. 6 bone crochet hook.
