Description

Crocheted Potholders: This pattern gives directions to crochet the potholders pictured. The official description: "The pattern contains directions and charts for making a rooster and a duck potholder. These potholders are worked entirely in single crochet. Each potholder is made in two identical pieces and overcast together across top of back on each animal. The bill on duck and the bill, comb and wattle on rooster are made of material and sewed on. They can be made in unbleached and a color (to match your kitchen) or they can be made in two colors such as: the duck in yellow with orange markings and the rooster in grey with black markings".

This is a Mail Order Design Pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 2640 in 1940.  "They're so easy to crochet you'll want to make a set for a friend too. (Just the thing for a shower gift). Do them in four strands of string in white with a color to match your kitchen".

  • piece each of red felt and yellow flannel.
