Crochet Rug Afghan, Laura Wheeler 1526

Crocheted Rug or Afghan:  This crocheted rug is made of 9-1/2 inch squares. They are made of six colors, the squares being identical; scrap yarn of course could be used for the design but the background color should always be the same. The rug can be made of rug yarn, candlewick or rags.    The finished rug measures 58 x 57 inches. Or, crochet the squares at 4-1/2 inches for an afghan.  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers.  The pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 1526 in 1937.   The newspaper description:  Cool, sparkling color greets you in this medallion rug of just simple crochet - a rug that will 'tie' a room together. Get busy on one at once - this effective pattern is nothing if not easy".   

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: 10 (17 yard) skeins of grey, 11 skeins of light rose, 17 skeins of light green, 40 skeins of black, 14 skeins of deep rose, 6 skeins of dark green rug yarn and a No. G steel crochet hook.
