Description

Crocheted Scarfs:  The pattern contains directions for making a short and a long scarf. The scarfs can be made either of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 20 white Mercerized Crochet Cotton. The choice of cotton governs the size and texture.  See below for sizes.  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 634.  The pattern was featured in the 1944 Alice Brooks Designs Catalog.

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:   Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (700 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook ;  
or No. 20 white Mercerized Crochet Cotton in (125 yard) balls and a No. 10 steel crochet hook. SCARFS MADE OF HEAVY COTTON: Long scarf (18 x 60 inches) requires 2 (700 yard) skeins of unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton;
Short scarf (18 x 38 inches) requires 1 (700 yard) skein of unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. SCARFS MADE OF FINE COTTON; Long scarf (15 x 45 inches) requires 7 (125 yard) balls of No. 20 white Mercerized Crochet Cotton; Short scarf (15 x 30 inches)
requires 5 (125 yard) balls of No. 20 white Mercerized Crochet Cotton.
