Now it is possible to crochet a full skirt in sections or gores - three for the front and three for the back. Instructions are given for size 18 to 35 waist.

Description

Crochet Six Gore Skirt Pattern:  Now it is possible to crochet a full skirt in sections or gores--three for the Front and three for the Back--and not have to hold a lapful of wool or nylon while doing it. The separate gores may then be joined by overcasting matching-rows with some of the same yarn threaded in a short darning needle; or, if the waistline needs additional length, by crocheting them together with a narrow insertion, as shown. In six seams such an addition makes quite a difference. Insert a zipper in what is to be the left-side closing of the skirt, finishing the rest of that seam like the others; crochet belt at top of skirt, fastening it with a button at left side also.

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.   It was marketed as Martha Madison 944  various times between 1962 and 1971.  There is a companion shrug pattern marketed as No 927.

Materials:  3-ply Baby Wool or Baby Nylon Yarn (plain or pompadour). Use #3 steel crochet-hook with round smooth point. 7-inch skirt zipper and 1-inch button.
