Description

Crocheted Square:  This pattern contains directions for working a jiffy crochet square made of two strands of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. Three squares joined together form a sturdy scarf; one can be used as a doily. For a dainty medallion use a single strand of cotton and join squares to form bedspreads, cloths and other articles.  The square can be made at 8 or 11 inches.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7231 in 1946.

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (700 yard) skeins and a No. 3 steel crochet hook for the double cotton or a No. 8 steel crochet hook for single cotton.   Each square requires approximately 224 yards of cotton if made of double cotton or 75 yards if made of single cotton.
