Crochet Star Doily Pattern, Pineapple Fan, Mail Order E-891

It's a Picture Pattern:   This pattern gives directions for crocheting the doily pictured.   This vintage 1950 design features a center pineapple wheel, surrounded by openwork and fans.  The finished doily measures 16 inches in diameter. 

This is a Mail Order pattern, purchased through newspapers.   This pattern was marketed as Ellen Bruce E-891 in 1950. "An unusual crocheted circular centerpiece combines a star and fan pattern with a pineapple design in the center.  It is an openwork pattern which works up quickly".  

Materials:  

• About 350 yards Mercerized Crochet Cotton #20. 
• #9 steel crochet hook. 

 For a larger doily, use #10, or bedspread cotton; for a smaller one use #30, or finer, thread.
