Crocheted Checkerboard Afghan Pattern

3811 :This pattern creates the fun checkerboard style afghan pictured above. This vintage pattern, 1958, from Bernat is made in afghan stitch and consists of solid and patterned squares, stitched together. Its a simple project with lasting results. Each motif if 6 inches; the finished afghan is 56 x 80 inches.

Materials:  Bernat Nylo Germantown (2 oz skeins) in a main and contrasting color;   1 afghan hook Size I or any size hook which will give the stitch gauge given below.   Gauge: 4 sts = 1 inch : 1 square measures 6 inches.
