Crocheted Hat Purse Pattern, Alice Brooks 7178

Crocheted Hat and Purse.  This pattern contains directions for making a crocheted hat and purse set made of either Straw Material, Knitting Worsted or a double strand of Crochet and Knitting Cotton. The set is worked in a combination of popcorn stitch and single crochet. Directions are given for hat in a 22-inch head size.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.   This pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7178. The pattern was included in the 1945 Alice Brooks Design Catalog.   

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: Either 6 (100 yard) skeins of yellow Straw Material or 5 (250 yard) balls of yellow Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or 3 (4 ounce) skeins of yellow Knitting Worsted;   No. 0 steel (or No. 4 bone) crochet hook;   1 yard of lining material 1/2 yard of buckram;   12-inch zipper fastener.
