Description

Crochet Lincoln Doily:  This pattern contains directions for making a fine lace doily 23 inches in diameter. The doily is made of No. 100 Cotton.   The official description :  "Lincoln, one of the most beloved Americans, love the simple handmade things we today still use.  Crochet this Lincoln doily, an exact reproduction of the one used on his favorite chair in his Springfield home.  The original is in a Chicago museum".  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7227 in 1942. The newspaper description:  "Lincoln, one of the most beloved of all Americans, loved the simple handmade things we today still use. Crochet this Lincoln doily, an exact reproduction of one used in his favorite chair in this Springfield home. Materials:  5 (200 yard) balls of No. 100 Mercerized Crochet Cotton;  No. 14 steel crochet hook.
