Crocheted Roman Numeral Oval Handbag Pattern

Roman Numeral : This pattern contains directions to crochet the bag pictured. This bag is named for the interesting pattern stitch, that you'll notice, does look like a Roman Numeral repeated over and over. The bottom of the bag measures 3 x 7". The height is not stated, however I'd think from visual that it would be in the 7 to 8" area. There is a top, just a tab bit larger than the bottom oval, that slides over the top opening to secure the contents. The handle is a combination of threads being twist and tied. The lined bag calls for a lining part number, which will not longer be available. If you want to line, you'll have to make a pattern from the finished dimensions. Although not typically the type of bag we ladies carry in current times, this would make a marvelous girls bag, or just a bag to store some treasures. The pattern is vintage 1949 from Modern Knitting.

Entire bag is worked with double strand.
