It's the sort of hat a man would describe as "fuffy stuff - the kind of hat men like! To a woman's knowing eye it's not "fuffy stuff at all - it's a hat with a beautifully stiff, crisp ruffle --all made of a white straw yarn. Crochet it in white to accent a dark spring suit. Wear it later with crepe street dresses. Costs almost nothing to make.

Description

Crocheted Ruffle Hat:  This pattern gives directions to crochet the hat pictured - an easy design.   White hats and white accessories are "tops" in style this season, due to the vogue for "dim-out" hats, gloves, bags and belts made of white material. Wear this hat with three-quarter pull-on white fabric gloves and carry a washable white purse.

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Anne Cabot 5551 in 1943.

Materials:  3 skeins of Strawtex, any color desired;   #1 steel crochet hook.
