"Company's coming, so out with the best bedspread, the dressers matching scarf, both crocheted this easy way. You'll have reason indeed to be proud of this lacy pair, to say nothing of a tea or dinner cloth, buffet or vanity set, all of which grow little to little as you crochet a simple medallion in humble thread".

Description

Crocheted Square : This medallion—adapted from the Italian lace—measures 5 inches when worked in string. It may be used for cloths, scarfs, pillows, buffet sets and bedspreads. Directions are given for the medallion and for joining it to form the above articles.

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers. The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 5560 in 1936. I've detailed this pattern in a blog post - Vintage Crocheted Motif, Alice Brooks 5560, should you care to read.

Materials:  Unbleached knitting and crochet cotton No. 7 steel crochet hook.   Each medallion requires 27 yards making 29 medallions to a skein. The single bed size bedspread requires 9 skeins and the double bed size 1 skeins. The dinner cloth requires 9 skeins, the luncheon cloth 5 skeins and the tea cloth 2 skeins. For all other articles one skein is sufficient.
