Description

Candlelight Place Mats with Gourmet Potholders: This pattern gives directions to crochet the kitchen accessories pictured. These are super easy beginners patters that were featured in the Coats and Clarks 1953 release of 'A Stitch in Time".

Placemats: Use Coats and Clark's O.N.T. SPEED-CRO-SHEEN and Milwards Steel Crochet Hook, No. 2/0. For each place mat you need 4 balls. The stitches used are single crochet and slip stitch. Finished size 13 ½" x 18 ½". This mat is made up of a center and a wide border. The center is made first. You begin at the short side. Make a chain 12" long.

Potholders: Use Coats and Clark's O.N.T. SPEED-CRO-SHEEN and a Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0. With one ball of White and one ball of Yellow (or any combination you desire) you can make two potholders of single thickness. With two balls of each, you can make two potholders of double thickness. The stitches used are single crochet and treble and slip stitch.
