Filet Crochet Butterfly Flowers Square Pattern Design 5695

Filet Crochet Squares: This pattern contains directions to crochet the squares pictured. The pattern is worked in filet crochet and are either 6 1/2 or 10 inch squares. On square is a butterfly motif; the second a flower. Combine the squares to forms bedspreads, cloths, runners or other items of your choice.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 5695 in 1937.  The newspaper description:  "You will certainly be proud to use this handsome cloth that everyone will admire and all the prouder when it is your own handiwork. The two ten-inch squares, the design set off by lace stitch, are lovely together, yet one could be repeated and used without the other. Bedspread, scarfs and pillows are also handsome in this design".

Materials:   Unbleached crochet and knitting cotton in (800 yard) skeins and a No 7 steel crochet hook;   Or, No 50 Mercerized crochet cotton and a No 12 steel crochet hook
