Filet Crochet Fruit Apron, Mail Order E-972

Filet Fruit Apron : This pattern contains directions to create the apron pictured. The Design 972 is a half apron worked in filet crochet to the included full page chart. It has a strong fruit motif, featuring apples, grapes, a pear and some implied greenery. The bottom edges are lightly scalloped and has back ties.

This is a mail order pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Ellen Bruce E-972 (Needlework Bureau) in 1947.  

Materials:  No 20 mercerized crochet cotton; 400 yards;   No 10 steel crochet hook

GAUGE: About 12 sts = 1”; 3 ½ or 4 blocks
